Top 10 Things to do on a Plane

Traveling can be fun. But it can also be tiring. Flights can be delayed, your luggage may take a long time to come. Maybe you are on a plane that was supposed to land but the runway isn’t clear yet. There are lots of reasons how travel can be exhausting and most times it is because your destination is far and the flight duration is long.

Or you may be on a direct flight that makes stops along the way and you have no choice but to stay on the plane for a long time.

But a journey in a plane need not be boring or exhausting. There are lots of ways you can take this opportunity to do something that you would otherwise not have the chance to do.

Here are the Top 10 Things you can do on a Plane

1) Draw and color

Who says art and craft is only for kids. There are lots of activity books for adults as well, including coloring books. Of course the adult coloring books are a little more challenging because of the intricate designs but they are just as fun and relaxing.

You can make it more challenging and fun by using gel ink pens to color. If you’re not into coloring, you can always draw or sketch in your notebook. Doodling is always fun, isn’t it?

2) Talk to other passengers

This is your chance to make new friends. Or at the very least, experience an interesting encounter that you can tell your friends about later. When you’re in a confined space for a long time, the other passengers are experiencing the same monotony as well. So why not try striking up a conversation with your fellow passengers and get to know them?

3) Play travel games and puzzle books

Travel games are popular for a reason. All your favorite games can be found in a compact version that is perfect for travelling. If you are with friends or family, you don’t have to worry about finding an opponent for your game. But when travelling alone, you still have plenty of choices. Solitaire is always a popular choice.

Also, you can carry your favorite puzzle books to pass the time and entertain yourself. Crossword, Word Search or Sudoku, there are plenty of puzzle books that you can also buy from the airport.

4) Snack

You may or may not be travelling on a plane with frills but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have snacks just in case. Always carry a snack with you in your backpack. It’s fun to eat your favorite snack as you travel to your vacation.

5) Watch a movie or funny video

Depending on which flight you are traveling on, again, you may not have access to in-flight movies. So why not download some movies and watch it on your phone and laptop when you are on a plane. A movie can be a great way to pass the time.

6) Listen for gossip

Now that you are in a closed space, you may have no choice but to hear other passengers talk. While you can always drown out noises with headphones, sometimes it is okay to just hear what they are talking about. The cabin crew may have something interesting to say as well. Keep your ears pricked up and maybe you may overhear something entertaining.

7) Take a short walk only if there is no turbulence

During long flights, you may find yourself sitting for extended periods. If there is no turbulence, and if the seatbelt sign is off, do take a walk around the plane to stretch your legs.

8) Meditate

Now’s the time to just relax. You’re not at home and you haven’t reached your destination yet. Here, up in the sky, you can let go of your stress and just let yourself loose.

Either practice meditation or listen to some soothing music to relax your mind.

9) Write

Consider carrying a notebook with you when you are travelling. You can either jot down some ideas on how to spend your vacation, or you can set up reminders. Maybe even make a list of all the things you would like to buy on your trip.

Or if you are feeling creative, why not try your hand at writing a short story or simply journal about your trip.

10) Sleep

Especially on long flights, why not catch up some much-needed sleep? You’ve had a tiring week, you have been stressing about your trip, you’ve exhausted yourself preparing for this trip. Now, why don’t you take a break and sleep as much as you want?

Give your body the rest that it so desperately needs.
