It's time to take that break you have been looking forward to all year. It was almost not going to happen, but you managed to save up and find that free time to take that vacation to a place you always wanted to go to.
The visa is done, the tickets are paid for, and the luggage is ready. All that is left is to go have fun.

Here are ten things you can do to make sure your vacation is super fun!



1) Learn a few basic phrases.

If you are travelling to a new country, do check out a few basic phrases online that can help you communicate with the locals.
While English is widely spoken, it would help you to know even a few words of the foreign language to connect with the locals and make new friends.
Your new friends may help you navigate around the city and even help you find some interesting bargains.



2) Try local cuisine.

While fast food franchises have branched out globally, why not use it as a safety net? Instead, go to some nice local restaurants and try out some new cuisines. You may just find your next favourite dish to try making when you get back home.


3) Be mindful of clothing.

Most countries have rules about clothing, and some have rules about what you can wear when visiting certain landmarks, especially when they are religion based. Do your research or ask around when visiting a new place so you are aware of what you should be wearing.



4) Visit local markets.

Many countries set up markets in cities where you can find clothing, try out new food, but display pieces and household items. Visiting such markets can help you learn about the country's culture even if you decide not to buy anything. It's a good way to soak in the atmosphere of a new place.

What better way to get to know a city than to wake a walk around? In fact, some streets in cities don't allow wheels at all. When on foot, you can intimately explore the streets and find interesting places to take pictures or to simply relax. However, make sure you are safe and know the emergency numbers of the country you are visiting.

You are on holiday. So let go of all inhibitions and try out an activity you normally wouldn't indulge in. Maybe it's skydiving. Maybe it's water sports. Or maybe it's pottery making. Find something new to do and check it out of your bucket list.

You are on holiday, after all. It's nice to get all the activities done during the day, but you don't want to exhaust yourself.

It's almost time to go back home. Shopping time is usually reserved for the very end of a trip, and so do take advantage of all the knowledge you have gained of the shops when you were exploring or chatting with locals.
Maybe you can find some mementoes to take back home at a much cheaper price than what most souvenir shops sell it at.
