TOP 10 ways to deal with a Bad Day

We all have one of those days where literally everything goes wrong.
It's the small things that we take for granted that seem to turn against us on those particular days.

The day begins with running out of toothpaste. Then there's no hot water or no water at all because of some maintenance work. The toaster burns your toast. You spill coffee on your clothes and have to change.
There are problems at work, and you end up arguing with a colleague.

Everything just keeps going downhill until the day finally ends, and you can go home and feel comforted.

Except... your WiFi isn't working, and now you can't watch that show you wanted to binge-watch.

They do say bad days make you appreciate the good ones.

But just how do we deal with a bad day?

Here are some suggestions:

1) Drown out your problems listening to your favourite tunes. Remember Daniel Powter's song Bad Day?

You did have a bad day, but you're taking one down.

2) Funny videos are the best thing about the Internet. You may find some original content online and also funny clips or bloopers from your favourite show.
Watching a funny video will definitely uplift your mood.

3) Sweet treats can make you feel better instantly. Ice cream and chocolates are usually the go-to food for when you are feeling down.

These foods can help you feel better, but they can also add on unnecessary weight that can make you sluggish and even more depressed.

Although chances are low that you will reach for healthy foods when you are down, try not to over-indulge when eating junk food.

4) Writing out your problems and keeping a diary can actually help cope with feelings that arise from having a bad day.
The writing process can be cathartic and help you get rid of ill feelings.

5) Talk to a friend or a loved one. It's always a good idea to reach out to a loved one when you are down. Talking it out with someone you trust generally helps.
But what if you don't have any friends or family where you are, or they are unavailable?
In that case, you can either go online and make a post and imagine you have reached people with your message.
Or talk to your pet.
Sometimes, animals can be the best listeners.

6) Take a break from everything and indulge in a hobby.
As kids, we had the time to pick up hobbies and keep ourselves occupied.
When we grow up, our priorities become different, and we become participants of a rat race.
Well, now is the time to get back into your hobbies.
Doing something constructive is sure to help and a welcome distraction.

7) Treat yourself well. Tell yourself you deserve the best no matter what anyone says.
Make your favourite food. Take a bath with your favourite body wash. Wear your best clothes.
It doesn't matter what anyone says or thinks about you.
Always believe that you deserve the very best.

8) Games and video games not only help build focus, but they can also provide you with a fun distraction.
There are several games available on app stores, websites with games, and gaming consoles.
And then there are the board games and card games.
All of these can help you unwind.

9) Keeping anger inside is the worst thing to do your body. But when you are in public, you have to keep it in. At home, you can definitely vent on your own.
Scream out your frustrations and punch a pillow. Getting your anger out in a non-violent way is better than hurting people or yourself.

10) Go for a walk. It may seem more appealing to get under the covers because a bad day feels like a burden on your body and makes you feel tired. A better option is to take a walk in nature.
Getting some fresh air and just being surrounded by nature can help your mood.
Or why not go to the park and sit on some swings?

Bad days are a part of life, but remember that they don't stay forever. They will move on, and all you need until then is to have strength and realize that every day is a new opportunity to make your life better and for you to be happy.
