TOP 10 Ways to Enjoy a Party (as an introvert)

It's party season!

Someone you know may have a birthday. Or it is an office party. Or it is a party you are being dragged to because it's your friend's cousin's wedding anniversary.

Whatever the case, sometimes, as an introvert, you will find yourself being subjected to a socializing event you can't get out of.

In that case, here are some things you can do to enjoy a party.

1) Take a break before attending a party. Always make sure you have enough sleep before you head to a party. There's nothing more exhausting to an introvert than to feel tired and then have to force yourself to socialize.

2) Try to smile at other guests and your host. Enter the party with a positive attitude. Promise yourself to have fun and so enter with a smile and be sure to offer that smile to your host and the other guests.

3) Approach someone with small talk. You should make an effort to talk to someone at a party even if it is for a minute. You can just ask them about the weather or their favourite food before making a clean getaway of you. Don't find the conversation exciting. Remember to make excuses.

4) Find safety at the food table. Isn't party food the best? If it's not, then consider making a quick exit. A boring party and no food. Nope. It's no point staying in, is there? Unless it is an office party and you have commitments.

But if the food is good, why not enjoy yourself and when you are eating, not many people are likely to approach you.

So you get peace and quiet and good food.

5) Find a spot to take a break. If it gets too much, find a quiet spot in a balcony, bedroom, bathroom, or garden. Taking a short break can help you recharge and get back in the game.

6) Carry your phone in case you get bored. Sometimes, you simply can't leave a party and need to stay in for more time than you intend to.

In that case, get your phone. You can answer your emails, read a book, chat with a friend, or even play a game.

7) Participate in Party Games. It's time to have fun. It doesn't matter if the small talk tactic didn't work. Just have fun at a party by participating in the games. Maybe you might even have fun when you win.

Or you may end up making friends when you play games.

8) Look for others like you. Maybe you're not the only one who is a wallflower. There may be others like you who have either been forced to come to a party or can't leave for some reason. Why not strike up a conversation with them.

9) Offer to help the host. The easiest way to keep yourself busy at a party is by helping the host. Maybe they want someone to help them with the music, or food or cleaning up.

The best way to thank a host for inviting you is by helping them out.

10) Give yourself an out. If you feel too bored or overwhelmed, why not just leave? Of course, try to be gracious about it and thank your host before you head out.

Always choose yourself over everything else.

Remember to try to have fun, but if it just gets too much, give yourself a break and head home where you can relax.

Parties are not meant to feel like a chore. But if they do and you find that you can't enjoy yourself no matter what, it is more than okay to leave and do something that you will truly enjoy.
