Twitter Roasts: The new Promotional Tool

You can learn a lot about Marketing from books and college lectures. The fundamental marketing concepts are vital to getting your product out there.

Ultimately, marketing is about connecting with the audience and the one thing that remains a constant challenge is that behavior changes according to environmental factors.

Considering the impact of the wars, diseases, and inflation brought on by the aforementioned influences, it comes as no surprise that consumer behavior is heavily impacted.

Take for instance the ongoing pandemic which has caused loss of jobs and inflated prices, a person will feel depressed and look for opportunities to vent frustrations.

Humor always works as well as watching competitors take down each other.

If there is one thing that the online audience gets hooked on is watching competitive companies roast each other.

Or actors. Or characters.

Burger chain Wendy's is known to be hilarious in its twitter roasts and comebacks against rival food chains.

Recently, it was the exchange between M3GAN and Chucky that kept the online audience captivated.

And now it is the SAW franchise and SCREAM franchise taking digs at each other.

Both movies are from different production companies.

While Saw 6 is slated to release in March, Saw X is expected to release in October.

I suppose it is never too late to start promotions and what better way to do that than to piggyback on the promotions of a movie releasing earlier.

The tweet that started it all has already garnered more than a million views in a matter of hours.

Users are already engaged in the war of words between the two movie accounts.

It remains to be seen which one will emerge winner but suffice to say, promoting movies or food is now easier by picking on a rival online.

The question one can ask is regarding the authenticity of this rivalry. Is it a planned promotional technique or something completely random?

Who doesn't like a dose of humor in the form of roasts?

The war has only begun.

Let's see which movie will end up getting more viewers in the theatres.
