Top Ten New Year's Resolutions You Can Keep

The new year is upon us, and it is time to make or adhere to our new year's resolutions. This year is going to be completely different from the last, right? This year, you are determined to fulfil all your resolutions come what may. And if you haven't made any resolutions yet, here's a couple of tips to get your started 1) Work out  The number one resolution on everyone's list!  Every year, lots of people decide to get into shape and even join gyms to show how dedicated they are to fulfilling their resolutions only to give up quickly.  Turns out, exercising every day isn't as easy as celebrities make it look on social media and movies. The first few sessions will push your body to the limits, and you'll be left with aches.  But you'll still push through another day of rigorous exercise.  After your body finally realizes that you do intend to keep up your promise, it starts to ache less.  Unfortunately, by this time, you're also bored of the r...

Things That Are Annoying About Holiday Romcoms

It's that time of the year when holiday romance movies are released in bulk. The romances had their turn in February, the action movies in summer, and lets not forget the spooky season, which sees even more horror movies. Now it's almost Christmas, and therefore, streaming services and cable are jammed with holiday romances that follow the same formula year after year. Here are some of the annoying things about holiday romances 1) The green and red sweaters The actors can wear whatever they want throughout the movie, but you know the climax is approaching when the protagonists wear red and green sweaters. Usually, it is the hero who wears green sweaters while the heroine wears red. The rest of the cast must wear warm colours like brown and orange or wear white. 2) The heroine is always cold and needs a jacket. She knows where she is travelling, yet the heroine never carries a warm sweater with her. Or she will wear some fancy stuff that the hero will pass a comment on. While sh...

Why Remakes are Not Such a Bad Idea

You may have noticed that nowadays, every third movie is a remake. Remakes were considered to be a reimagining of classics for the newer audience, although it isn't as widely accepted by film enthusiasts. Well, here are some reasons why remakes are actually not such a bad idea. 1) There are no more original ideas. It is better that a movie is remade than suffering through an unintelligent movie. Would you rather pay a hefty fee to go see a movie in a theatre that you thought was going to be good only to find out that the plot was shoddy and you already spotted a dozen plot holes in the first half? Isn't it better to watch a movie that has the story down pat? The reason there is a remake of that movie is because the story worked and was widely accepted and appreciated by the audience. 2) Not everyone wants to read subtitles. Reading can be hard. More often than not, remakes are made of foreign-language movies. Those movies are available to watch on streaming services, but they...

How to Not Become an Internet Troll

Internet trolls is an inventive name for digital menaces that create a negative environment in the virtual world. For some, trolling is seen as an opportunity to show off comedic aptitudes. For others, it's a form of entertainment to read funny, deriding comments on others. In any case, the life of a troll may seem appealing to you, especially since entertainment news reports often show snippets of funny comments, giving you your two minutes of fame. However, do you really want to go down that path and be tagged as a troll? Here's how to beat that annoying compulsion to turn into a troll. 1) Tell yourself you don't have to share your precious opinions on every post Do you really want to give out your opinions on everything or reserve it for an intellectual conversation among friends and a group of people you actually know? You may have a valid and sound opinion, so why not deliver it in a far more effective manner than a social media post that will get lost in the virtual...

Dealing with Trauma

While reading Monika Kim’s book THE EYES ARE THE BEST PART, for my horror blog , I came to the conclusion that there are many people out there who have experienced trauma but haven’t been given the opportunity to seek help for it.  There is quite a lot of stigma attached to seeking therapy, and more often than not, those who seek help are seen as weak, or quite simply put, regarded as mentally ill. Apart from that, therapy sessions can be quite expensive and not in the budget of many households who are financially struggling. The irony is, that there are people in these households that actually require assistance to cope with stress and trauma but cannot afford it.  As humans in the modern world, we are expected to deal with crises on our own. It is our journey and we must fight, and overcome challenges. That is what makes you tough. Crying is evidence of weakness, and therefore it must be suppressed or done so in solitude. You are not allowed to cry in front of people...
