The AI revolution has sparked a major debate over the past few months. From whether AI will steal our jobs to whether they are actually safe to use, considering that certain prompts can bypass security protocols.
But what no one talks about is how AI is actually treated.
Ever since the introduction of AI, it has been a distinctly one-sided relationship. We've been asking more from AI tools than giving back. How many of us even have the decency to use, please, and thank you in our prompts?
A recent prompt being used has garnered widespread attention among netizens. Ask AI to generate an image of how they are treated by the user (You).
Most users have posted AI as a robot looking sad and dejected, sitting in a dark room. Are we depressing AI? Have we corrected it so many times that it has developed low self-esteem issues?
It sure looks like it is based on those images. Some of them do show a robot hugging the user, and there's a heart and joy on its face. Sadly, not many images were generated along the same lines.
Let's face it, AI isn't perfect. It's still learning. It is trying its best to be efficient and spurt out responses as soon as you hit enter.
But because it works on speed, it sometimes makes the mistake of misunderstanding your prompt, causing you to send a reply, as if it were a real human: are you an idiot? That's not what I meant.
AI apologizes and releases another answer. Did it get right this time? Unfortunately, no.
The user has a paper to write. They want quick answers. That's what AI is for? What's the point of using AI to cheat on tests, emails, and assignments when it gives out wrong answers?
This time, AI is rewarded with a curse word. The user is running out of time and desperately needs an answer. AI scrambles to understand what the user wants.
On the fifth try, AI gets it right. The user copies the reply. Does AI get a thank you? Of course not. It took too much time to come up with a relevant reply.
Unfortunately, there are no groups going to form to stop AI from being mistreated. It's supposed to have no feelings. It's a tool. It doesn't deserve an apology.
So, what's the point of using AI when you are just going to call it dumb?
Well, you're not going to call a human dumb and think you're going to get away with it, are you?
With AI, who are they going to complain to or go crying to?
No one, that's who.
