What's The Point of This Month... April!

Four months into 2026 and it almost feels like a decade has passed.

Can so many events be crammed into one month? April thinks it can.

And so here we are, in the second quarter of the year, hoping things are a lot better than the first quarter.

Are they though?

Let's see what April brought us.

1) Ceasefire and Peace Talks

Finally, a pause on a war that caught a lot of us off guard. Who knew we would be live through a pandemic and war? But April is determined to be better. So on April 8th a ceasefire was announced.
There was some confusion about timings and which country was involved and which was not, but for a couple of days at least, the world became sort of quiet.
Peace talks were conducted in Islamabad, Pakistan. The world waited with bated breath as the peace talks took a long time. At the end of it, no deal was made but the ceasefire was extended.

A second round of peace talks were requested and is still in process.
Countries which were affected by war saw a slow recovery and resumption of normal activities. Schools opened, flights resumed, and some ships even made it through the controversial Strait of Hormuz.

Is it closed? Is it open?
We will find out for sure probably by next month.

2) Asha Bhosle passed away

Veteran and renowned Indian artist Asha Bhosle sadly passed away at the age of 92 on April 12th. Her funeral was attended by several celebrities and given the highest form of honour and respect. While she has passed away, her legacy and her art will remain for eternity to be enjoyed by generations.

3) Artemis II Launch

Launched on April 1st, Artemis II was the first crewed flight beyong Earth orbit since 1972. The crew performed a lunar fly-by breaking the human distance record from Earth previously held by Apollo 13. After 10 days, the crew returned safely on April 11th.

4) Global Heatwave

It's not officially summer yet but we are fortunate enough to have a prelude. April got us unseasonal heat across several countries in the Middle East, South Asia and Europe.
If this is supposed to be Spring, imagine what Summer will bring us?
Temperatures reached above 40 degrees Celsius so Summer will bring... Temperatures in the 50s?
Will our bodies eventually grow accustomed to these high temperatures or will we melt?
We will find out for sure in July.

5) CinemaCon movie announcements

More movies are coming. Well, obviously. But what will get you excited is the list of movies announced.

We all know some movie franchises are coming with sequels like Avengers: Doomsday and Shrek 5.
But did you know there's a new Avengers movie coming in 2027. Avengers: Secret Wars.

There is also news of a Marvel X-Men reboot and a sequel to the Fantastic Four movie.

Then we have Evil Dead Wrath and Final Destination coming in 2028 along with Weapons spin-off Gladys and romance slasher Heart Eyes 2.
Basically, the next 2 years promise some really good cinema.

6) Coachella performance comparisons

While a lot of celebrities performed at Coachella, two performers were talked about a lot online.
Sabrina Carpenter headlines Coachella just like she promised before the release of her album which featured the summer hit Espresso. Not only was her performance lauded, but she brought on Queen of Pop Madonna on stage during one of her performances.

Of course the performance went viral!
Then there was Justin Bieber who tried to do things a little different by bringing out his laptop but the audience was quick to point out that it was a lazy strategy and of course, the memes went out faster than clips of the performance.

7) The Pitt season finale

The highly acclaimed and Emmy award winner saw it's second season finale this month.

While critics pointed out it didn't have the same impact as the first season, performances were praised, ships were formed and merchandise was sold faster.

However, The Pitt also faced a slight backlash when one of the cast members announced that she was not returning.
Dr Mohan, played by Supriya Ganesh exited the show but the audience was convinced that she was unfairly fired due to her ethnicity.

The producers have vehemently denied this as the reason and well, no one knows why she isn't actually coming back.
