WHAT'S THE POINT of Asking a Movie Star to Solve Global Issues?
Do you know what's happening in the world?
It doesn't matter if you don't.
Do celebrities know what's going on in the world? Well, they are better. Because they are out there. They can't be only about fancy dresses, tons of makeup, and expensive cosmetic surgeries. They need to have the depth to hold proper conversations.
It's okay if you don't know what's happening in your neighborhood. Or in your city. Or the country. What's important is that when you go on social media and check out the star's account, they should have commented on a global or political issue.
But why?
Being a celebrity can be challenging. They need to spend hours working on scenes and performing on camera. But then they have to do the press tours, and that's when they encounter even more challenges.
Now, it's common knowledge that celebrities work with PR teams to get them interview-ready. The questions they are asked are vetted, the celebrity is sometimes given a script, and their body language is perfected.
But sometimes, the talk show host or journalist can get a little cheeky and go off script. They need ratings, after all, and in order to do that, they need to embarrass the celebrity. They have to show the world that some celebrities are just plain shallow.
So, while the actor or actress is eager to discuss their upcoming project, they are instead asked their opinion on current politics or global issues.
Yes, some celebrities are open to discussing which side of the political debate they are on. But then their careers slide, movies flop, and contracts are canceled because they chose a controversial stance.
But most of the times a celebrity genuinely fumbles because they have been working long hours while filming and chose to learn their lines rather than follow the latest news.
The interviewer knows this and cunningly takes advantage to ask celebrities the trickiest questions that will not only display their intellectual level but also get them in trouble with their fans.
So...what is the point of asking a celebrity to comment on global issues?
They just want to promote their movie. They are earning money from working on that project and want to show the world that they are good at their job.
They have done a dozen interviews in a day, and now they are being asked a question which could get them in trouble.
No, thanks. They would very much prefer sticking to the script that promises that people go and watch their movies.
